Clarksville, Tennessee reporter indicted on drug forgery charges
A Tennessee reporter for The Leaf-Chronicle in Clarksville, Tennessee who was
formerly an editor at two other Middle Tennessee newspapers, was arrested yesterday
on drug charges.
Cameron Collins was charged and surrendered to Tennessee officials on a sealed
Tennessee grand jury indictment alleging prescription forgery, a felony, an
Tennessee official with the Montgomery County, Tennessee Sheriff's Department
said. He is free on $2,500 bail.
It wasn't clear last night what type of drug Collins is accused of trying to
obtain or the circumstances that led to the indictment or the arrest.
The Tennessee Sheriff's Department official said he could provide no other
information.
Collins declined to comment last night.
He has worked for several Gannett newspapers in Middle Tennessee, including
in Gallatin and Dickson, and some of his articles written for them have appeared
in The Tennessean since 1999. Public records list his age as 34.
